I've owned a lot of rifles over the years, and by a lot I mean too many to be practical. Through all that time there was a little siren song nagging away in the back of my mind...but the time was never right. Well now it is. Quite by chance I found a nice small ring, double square bridge Mauser action, made in 1949 and now scarce as hen's teeth. Butterknife bolt. Proper steel throughout, no plastic or alloy. Barrel band and classic front sight. Sweet, but it was the chambering that clinched it … [Read more...] about Ultimate light African sporter

A gentleman by nature
Bob White contributed a number of artworks to Hunting Life - Moments of Truth. This is one of my favorites, 'The Borrowed Gun.' He would blush to hear me say it, but Bob is a gentleman by nature rather than birth. He sold his first painting at the age of 12. He has a longstanding relationship with Ducks unlimited as well as Gray’s Sporting Journal, Sporting Classics and Shooting … [Read more...] about A gentleman by nature

Ryan www.faraway.co … [Read more...] about Inyati II
Side by Side
This is a Churchill 'Hercules', a lovely thing. 'Like watching a trout take a dry, there is something unique and exciting about side-by-sides. There’s the short, precise arc to snap them shut, the simple restrained elegance and clean lines. The quiet way some old guns simply extract rather than eject their spent … [Read more...] about Side by Side
Old partners
'We have lived in their skins, used their antlers for tools and bows, eaten their meat and trekked in their steps. Native Americans have their buffalo, but Europeans can look to the red stag with the same feeling, the same deep roots in the dark earth of pre-history. We grew up together. Men and stags and antlers go back to the cave, and beyond. Deer and men are old partners - we try to catch them, they elude us. They know us from a thousand generations, and in our hearts we still long for … [Read more...] about Old partners
